Adams County Criminal Docket Searches
Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, known as WCCA, is the main public route to an Adams County criminal docket. Pick Adams County first. Then apply the local filters. A full case number works best. Without one, use the least identifying data that separates the right case from lookalikes. Names alone invite false matches, so check county, caption, case type, filing date, and status before trusting a hit. No account is needed for ordinary case lookup. You can narrow a criminal search by case type, class code, status, offense date, filing date, disposition date, DA case number, issuing agency, citation number, or attorney type.
- Open WCCA and read its current terms and help.
- Select Adams County, then choose a case-number, name, or advanced search.
- Open the result whose caption, type, date, and county match.
- Read charges apart from pleas, judgments, dispositions, and sentences.
- Ask the Adams County clerk to confirm the official file when certification matters.
Adams Criminal Search Filters
The official WCCA case-search screen does more than a name box. Advanced fields sort felony, misdemeanor, and criminal-traffic matters apart. Note that filing date and offense date differ. A citation number may also be formatted differently in court data than on the paper citation.
| Field | Best use | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Case number | Direct search by year, type, and sequence | Enter the full value |
| Case type | Separate CF, CM, and CT results | Use the live portal list |
| DA case number | Match a prosecutor reference | Must exist in court data |
| Offense date | Narrow alleged-event dates | Not the filing date |
| Status | Focus pending or disposed cases | Read the latest activity |

A narrow, verified query beats a common name every time.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
A public Adams County criminal docket can list a case number like 2024CF000123, plus caption, filing and status dates, attorneys, prosecutor, charges, activities, pleas, sentencing, disposition, receivables, and document links. That number is a format example only, not a real case. Exact detail varies by record and access rule.
| Case and branch | County, branch, type code, year, and sequence identify the matter. |
|---|---|
| Charge | Alleged offense, statute, class, and count information. |
| Activity | Dated hearings, motions, orders, pleas, and court acts. |
| Disposition | The result for a case or count, read at the correct level. |
| Sentence | Public sentencing terms after a plea or conviction. |
| Documents | Links or indicators where available; some stay restricted. |
Think of each docket line as an index entry, not a transcript. WCCA does not attach or make public the police reports, body-camera footage, discovery, and agency evidence behind a case.
Adams Criminal Caseload in 2024
The Wisconsin Courts 2024 county caseload report counted Adams County filings by case-flow category. It logged 246 felony complaints, 380 misdemeanor complaints, and 183 criminal-traffic complaints filed. The figures count matters, not people or convictions.
A separate clearance report put the combined Adams County criminal clearance rate near 98 percent. That rate compares disposed matters with opened ones. It says nothing about guilt.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
Each stage can add several Adams County criminal docket entries. An initial appearance may cover early scheduling and release issues. An arraignment is when charges are addressed and a plea may be entered. Pretrial activity often involves motions, discovery, readiness, or later settings. A plea or trial can bring charge-level outcomes. Judgment and sentencing follow when they apply.
Docket flow: Charge Filed › Initial Appearance › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
An appeal or post-judgment motion can add activity later. Never assume an event occurred just because an earlier setting stays on the docket.
Read Adams Outcomes With Care
Keep accusation, court event, disposition, and sentence separate. A charge stays an allegation until the record shows a public judgment or disposition. "Disposed" may cover one count or the whole case, and "dismissed" can apply to a single charge while another ends differently.
- Pending
- The case remains active under current portal rules.
- Disposition
- A result or closure event for a case or count.
- Receivable
- A financial obligation tracked in CCAP, not a full receipt.
- Restricted
- A record withheld from public access under law, rule, or order.
For a certified result, judgment, or payment record, contact the clerk. The screen is not the official judgment or lien docket.
Adams County Criminal Docket Courts
Felonies, misdemeanors, and criminal-traffic cases are filed in Adams County Circuit Court. Its two branches sit at the Adams County Courthouse. WCCA provides the public information layer, while the clerk keeps the official circuit file. Give staff the case number and branch so they can pull the right record. Municipal ordinance and traffic cases sit in a different layer. Wisconsin Dells and the Town of Rome run their own municipal procedures, and a municipal citation should not be assumed to appear in WCCA unless it reached circuit court.

Adams Criminal Access Channels
Wisconsin gives you several ways to reach an Adams County court record. Search WCCA online. Use a public-access computer at a courthouse. Or go to the Adams County clerk counter in person. Staff can also handle mail, phone, fax, and copy requests. Registered parties and authorized users may turn to Wisconsin circuit eFiling for permitted documents.
Keep a mailed request narrow. Give the case number, the branch, and the document title or hearing date. Say whether you want a plain or certified copy. Confirm the cost and delivery method first. Public email is not a filing channel.
The two electronic systems answer different questions. WCCA is the public docket. eFiling is for registered parties, lawyers, and authorized filers, with a My Cases view that filters by county, case number, caption, and case type. A filed item can sit marked as submitted while the court processes it. Electronic filing alone does not open a restricted document to the general public. A reader who just wants a hearing date or an outcome should start with WCCA. A party seeking a permitted filed document may use eFiling. Anyone who needs the official public file should ask the clerk.
Note: WCCA data may be less complete than the official courthouse file.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Wisconsin policy favors public access to its courts. Even so, an Adams County criminal docket can still hold material the public cannot see, such as a restricted attachment, a protected identifier, presentence material, victim information, or a sealed document. Juvenile and other confidential matters stay closed no matter what a docket search returns.
Key rules:
Wis. Stat. § 19.35 provides general inspection and copying rights subject to exceptions.
Wis. Stat. § 801.19 protects listed personal identifiers.
Wis. Stat. § 801.20 governs confidential documents, while § 801.21 supplies a sealing procedure.
A clerk applies an access designation to a case. Sealing, though, is not the clerk's call to make alone. Ask whether a redacted copy exists, and what authority controls access.
